Welcome to the ISU Mentoring Center. We are here to connect any student, regardless of major, background, or class standing, to a mentor who can help them develop professionally, academically, and personally. We also support mentoring for and by faculty through a partnership with the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence (FCTE).

What is a mentor exactly? Mentoring relationships are all unique and can take on many different forms, but the fundamental role of mentors is to be a support. A mentor is someone to talk to who can also provide guidance about navigating college and life in general. Mentors can provide insight into ISU; connect you to the campus, additional resources, and the community; and help you identify and achieve career goals.

How can you find a mentor? You can request a peer mentor through the Mentoring Center here. You will then take an online survey that will be used to match you with one of our trained peer mentors based on common interests, background, academic and professional aspirations, or based on what’s important to you. ISU also has a wide variety of specialized mentoring programs that you can learn more about here.

Presentations:
The Mentoring Center can do short presentations on the services that the center provides and a brief overview of what mentoring is. To request a presentation, please contact Burr Hartman via email at Burr.Hartman@storesoo.com.

The Mentoring Center is funded through a Strengthening Institutional Programs (SIP) Grant from the US Department of Education.
